Mr Johnson has been receiving treatment for coronavirus at St Thomas' Hospital in London since Sunday.
He remains in hospital “where he will receive close monitoring during the early phase of his recovery,” a spokesperson for Number 10 said.
A spokesman added: "He is in extremely good spirits."

Hide AdHe was taken to hospital on Sunday with persistent symptoms - 10 days after testing positive - and was moved to intensive care on Monday evening.
He was receiving "standard oxygen treatment" in intensive care and had not been on a ventilator.
Matt Hancock, who is deputising for Mr Johnson, tweeted: “So good that the Prime Minister is out of intensive care and on the road to recovery.
“The NHS is there for us all and I know our amazing NHS staff have given him their characteristic world-class care.
