Hat-trick of success for Bassetlaw’s Parks

Bassetlaw District Council is celebrating a trio of coveted Green Flag Awards, with Langold Country Park being recognised alongside Kings’ Park in Retford and Worksop’s Memorial Gardens and The Canch.

The award is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces and Kings’ Park celebrates reaching this high standard for the 17th time, while the Memorial Gardens and The Canch has won the award for the 11th year running.

Cllr Darrell Pulk, Cabinet Member for Environment and Energy said: “We are thrilled Langold Country Park has received a Green Flag award for the first time, alongside recognition for Kings’ Park and The Canch.

“Receiving these awards is a triple success for Bassetlaw and a testament to the dedication of our Parks and Open Spaces team, our Grounds Maintenance staff and partner organisations. These awards recognise the hard work that goes into maintaining the parks to such a high standard.”

Facilities at Langold Country Park have seen an upgrade this year with the creation of a new café pod and a Changing Places facility, making the site more accessible.

While Kings’ Park and The Canch continue to attract visitors with attractions such as splash parks, skate parks, play equipment, well maintained gardens alongside events such as Panto in the Park by Talegate Theatre.

The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under licence from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.
