Nottinghamshire Police say they are investigating the latest incident, in which a man was acting suspiciously toward two children in Sparken Hill, on Monday, February 8, at about 3.30pm.

A similar incident happened on Friday, February 5, next to Manton Cemetery on Retford Road at about 8pm.

They followed another incident on Raines Avenue in Worksop on Tuesday, January 26, at about 3.30pm, when a 17-year-old female student from Outwood Academy Valley Post 16 Centre was walking home.

In each instance, the offender has been described as white, aged in his 20s or 30s, with, short dark hair and driving a dark-coloured car.

Inspector Neil Bellamy, Bassetlaw district commander, said: “We do suspect now that we have an offender who has been seen acting suspiciously in the presence of children on more than one occasion in recent weeks.

“We must make it clear there has been no reported attempt to make physical contact with a child.

“However, his actions are clearly causing some distress and concern.

“I urge anyone who may know who is doing this or recognise the description of the offender to contact us immediately on 101.”

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: “We can confirm we are investigating a report of a man acting suspiciously towards two children in Sparken Hill on Monday, February 8 at about 3.30pm.

“We believe this may be linked to these other reports received in January and February.”

No arrests have yet been made.

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire County Council said: “There is a robust system in place for dealing with incidents like these.

“Both the council and the police are alerted and ensure the incidents are followed up immediately.”
