Police are investigating an ongoing large fire at a Worksop industrial estate - which has left a road closure and residents unable to open windows.

Firefighters were called to the fire on Sandy Lane Industrial Estate, off Sandy Lane, at 11.15pm last night (Saturday, July 28).

A police spokesman said: "Were you in Sandy Lane, Worksop last night between 8.30 and 10.30pm? Did you see anything out of the ordinary?"

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of a fire at a recycling plant at the Sandy Lane Industrial Estate, Worksop, which has been alight throughout the night.

The blaze was reported around 10.30pm.

Officers continue to support fire fighters who remain at the scene dealing with the fire.

Worksop road still closed after large fire on industrial estateResidents on Gatesford Road, James Street, Valley Road, Anston Avenue, Mount Avenue, Ashley Road and Baulk Road were asked to keep their doors and windows closed as firefighters tackled the fire.

At 4,30am this morning fire crews were still at the fire.

The cause of the fire is as yet unknown, but anyone who was in the area, or who has information is asked to call 101, quoting incident 1059 of 28 July.
