Police hunt for suspected cheque fraud men

POLICE are searching for two men suspected of fraud around the country - including Worksop, Dinnington and Bawtry.

Between 10th June and 11th July 2011, two men are believed to have attempted to cash six cheques in banks across South Yorkshire, Notts and Lancashire.

The first attempt was on Friday 10th June at bank in Lancaster where one of the men unsuccessfully attempted to pay a cheque with a value of £3,650 into an automated machine.

Three attempts were then made on Saturday 9th July between 11.35am and 12.55pm at three different locations.

The first was at a bank in Worksop with a value of £2,700, then in Dinnington to the value of £2,500 and the third was at a bank in Wickersley, South Yorkshire, where a cheque was presented to be cashed with a value of £2,750.

All three attempts were successful totalling almost £8,000.

The fifth attempt was on Monday 11th July at a bank in Bawtry to the value of £2,760 when the man was challenged by staff and the cheque was not cashed.

The final attempt was on Friday 15th July at a bank in Lancaster, where a cheque with a value of £4,394, was unsuccessfully presented to an automated machine.
