Police appeal after A57 crash in Aston

POLICE are appealing for information after an elderly woman suffered serious injuries on the A57 in Aston.

A silver Peugeot 106 was travelling along Aston Way towards the M1 and a black Ford Fiesta was moving towards Sheffield and started to turn right into Mansfield Road when the accident happened at 2.40pm on Wednesday.

The Fiesta, being driven by an 81-year-old woman, collided with the Peugeot.

The woman, from Rotherham, suffered broken jaw, internal injuries and a suspected broken pelvis and is being treated in Northern General Hospital.

The driver of the Peugeot, a 21-year-old man from Sheffield, suffered slight injuries and was treated at Rotherham Hospital.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision.

Anyone with information is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 584 of the 22 February.
