Sherwood Pines Forest Park, near Edwinstowe, played host to Canute 1,000, its fourth annual Spring Thing, with attractions including a living history camp recreating how the site would have been inhabited 1,000 years ago, when Canute the Great came to the throne in 1016.

Centrepiece of the event was a replica Viking ship, on site to demonstrate a boat burial ceremony, while there were also battle re-enactments with authentically reproduced weapons.
