East Midlands Railway tweeted at 8.31am that the incident has forced the line between Nottingham and Worksop to be closed.
A subsequent tweet said: “Disruption continues due to a person being hit by a train the line is closed between Nottingham and Worksop. We have alternative transport in place to get you to where you need to be.”
British Transport Police has been contacted for details.
