Since announcing the deadline to clear the unpaid debts and ensure their survival an online crowdfunding page set up to help the club has so far raised over £5,000.

Club president Keith Ilett’s fund has also had a ‘significant influx of money’.

Club spokesman Devon Cash told how Soccer Saturday’s Jeff Stelling had shared the appeal online and donated £100 while a £1,000 gift had come in after former footballer Peter Crouch tweeted about it.

Devon said: “We now have an object to strive for - a bar to chase after to save the club.

“As our manager Kyle Jordan says ‘there’s light at the end of the tunnel’.

“We just need a push every day and we’ll get there.”
