Philip Hall and his wife Julie were shocked to find workers had painted a 19-metre ‘clearway’ around a bus stop outside his Cavendish Road home on the Manton estate.
Retired electrician Philip, 71, told how he and his wife only bought their semi-detached home in 1986 ‘for the parking’.

He revealed how they were now having to park across the road to get to their home.
The pair had - along with neighbours - been fighting moves by Nottinghamshire County Council to have the parking restrictions put in place since they were announced last summer.
Under the new regime those living on the Manton estate are banned from parking within the clearways at the various bus stops between 10-12 bus stops from 7am-7pm.
Philip said: “We’ve all sent letters of complaint but it seems a case of ‘tough luck, you’re having it’.

“We don’t mind the bus stops but not being allowed to park outside your own property after 35 years is a bit much.
“We’re all very disappointed but what can you do now they’ve placed it there?”
Philip says the new restriction has taken £10,000 from the value of his home - which was priced at £120,000.
He added: “It’s just so inconvenient for anyone who lives here - you get back with your shopping and have to walk across the road with it.

“My 87-year-old mother-in-law has mobility problems and it’s a long walk from across the road for her.”
“But I’m 71 now and can’t afford to move - so we’re stuck with it.”
At the time of the consultation over the bus box a council spokesman said: "The highway code does not permit vehicles parking on or near bus stops as this prevents buses from being able to access it to pick up and drop off passengers.
"The council has concluded the most effective way to resolve the issue is to install bus stop clearways at all the bus stops along the loop.”
