Worksop Covid-19 survivor urges public to display poster thanking NHS

Trish Hunt designed the rainbow logo poster - which reads ‘NHS Still Saving Us - We appreciate you all! Thank you’ after seeing for herself the ‘immense stress’ staff are under.

She said: “They are all superheroes and I wanted to find a way to encourage them because they’re on their knees’.

Mum-of-four Trish told how this month she was admitted to the hospital after ‘struggling to breathe’ walking up the stairs at home - while suffering with the ‘horrendous’ virus.

Fibromyalgia sufferer Trish described how after being put on oxygen by an ambulance crew a doctor arrived ‘straight away’ at the hospital’s A&E department.

She was given steroids, antibiotics and a chest X-ray before being placed on a ward for monitoring.

Trish, 52, said: “They were just amazing - so professional and so caring.

“They were so patient and the pressure they’re under is immense but they just keep on smiling - the nurses even did a little jig at one stage to cheer everyone up.

“They’re patient while they feed patients that can’t manage, wash them, reassure them, encourage them to get up and walk, make cups of tea, care enough to put the radio on, fluff your pillows and still teach students.”

Trish told how she saw staff changing PPE and washing their hands every time they entered or left a ward bay or room.

She said: “It was safer than a supermarket - which is probably where I caught the virus.”

The Worksop mum is now recovering at home however she added: “When we had the Thursday clap we used to go up to the hospital with a big banner.

“But things seem much worse now than during the first lockdown and we’re not showing the NHS any appreciation.

“I just thought, rather than clapping, this poster might be something that would cheer them up as they drive past and see it in people’s windows.

“What I’d really like is for supermarkets to print them off and place them at checkouts for people to collect.”
