Aurora Wellbeing, a charity that supports people in Bassetlaw affected by cancer and long term health conditions, was awarded £1.56million from the National Heritage Lottery Fund to transform the Old Library building in Memorial Lane, where it is based.

The grade two listed building will be restored to its former glory and regenerated to include a new museum.

Throughout the duration of the building works, Aurora will continue to deliver services to local people to ensure people in Bassetlaw diagnosed with cancer receive vital help and support, and until services can return to the centre in 2021.

The Aurora charity shop and tea rooms has relocated to the former Dukeries Tea Rooms building in Bridge Street, Worksop, for a period of approximately six months and will open daily from Monday to Saturday, from 10am to 3pm.

Aurora beauty therapy services will continue to deliver services from Sparkles Beauty, Kilton Road, Worksop, and customers are asked to call 0750 3612084 during this period to book appointments.

Aurora wellbeing practitioners will continue to provide health needs assessments and support across the Bassetlaw area, working remotely to help support people and their families with a cancer diagnosis, and to offer emotional support, counselling and workshops.

Aurora exercise classes, including yoga, pilates, and tai chi, will continue either online via Zoom or at locations across the locality.

Debra Fores, Aurora manager said: “It’s vital we keep all our services running throughout this period to maintain consistent and ongoing support for local people diagnosed with cancer, during what is an incredibly difficult time for many people.

"Keeping our charity shop, tea rooms and beauty therapy services operational is essential to the charity, to help Aurora generate much-needed income at what is a very challenging time for the charity sector.

"From everyone here at Aurora, thank you for your continued support.”

Aurora provides support for anyone living with a cancer diagnosis or a long-term health condition.
