Twenty-five new officers join Nottinghamshire Police

The group passed out after completing an 18-week training programme at a special ceremony at the force's Sherwood Lodge headquarters – which was attended by Chief Constable Craig Guildford and Deputy Chief Constable Rachel Barber.

They will now be deployed across the county to undertake a range of duties with tutor officers after completing a mix of classroom training and operational attachments.

PC Amarpreet Toor, 24, had his first shift as a response officer on Monday.

He said: "The training was really good, my trainers were top class and everyone on my intake were great to get to know and work with as well.

“Role-play exercises and being able to apply what we had learnt in those scenarios were the highlights.”

Meanwhile, PC Molly Mason, 21, has met her new team and already completed her first shift.

"Training was fantastic, even through Covid times and a lot of things had to be adapted,” she said.

"I thought the training school made us all feel safe really well, so we could have the best training possible.

"I joined the police because I wanted a job were I have no idea what the day will entail. It’s also a great job to help people and be involved in a range of different jobs.

"I had a good idea of what the role was as I'd studied policing at University and I was also a Special Constable at British Transport Police."

The force is a year ahead on its recruitment trajectory which has already seen 132 new officers in post – above its target of 107 by the end of this financial year.

A further 100 officers have also been allocated for the next financial year.

Mr Guildford said: “The force continues to make huge strides forward. This is happening because of the huge amount of work my officers and staff have put into our recruitment processes, which includes a longer term focus on community and youth engagement programmes, schools outreach, and positive action.

"I would like to place on record my thanks to everyone.”
