Mr Stafford said: “I would like to thank every single resident of Rother Valley who has gone above and beyond in keeping our community, and our country, safe. They truly are the best of Britain.

“It is clear that without these local heroes we would have no chance of defeating the coronavirus. So, I am inviting all my constituents to nominate key workers in Rother Valley who deserve special recognition.”

Mr Stafford has published an open letter to key workers and frontline staff in which he says: “It is clear that without these unsung heroes, we would not defeat coronavirus. From the very beginning they have been leading the fight back and setting an example for us all to follow. These key workers range from doctors, nurses, paramedics, vaccinators, and testing staff to police officers, teachers, care home staff, delivery drivers, shopworkers, and transport workers, to name a few.

"I wish to express my admiration for my constituents who have kept Rother Valley running throughout three national lockdowns and severe tier restrictions, acting with the utmost professional care and respect. They have carried out their jobs to an incredibly high standard in challenging conditions, whilst abiding by regulations in a rapidly evolving environment.”
