Pause for Thought
This is when Christians come together to celebrate their commonality and work towards greater mutual understanding and acceptance (there’s a special inter-denominational service at Poplars Church, the ‘Golden Ball’, on Sunday, January 19, at 6.30pm – all welcome) but we don’t have to be Christian to recognise that the past few years have seen our country blighted by disunity and division. Perhaps now, when New Year resolutions have largely been broken or forgotten, everyone might seek to find ways of celebrating the common ground we share with those opposed to our views, to listen to others instead of repeating our own entrenched opinions, and begin to make 2020 a ‘Year of Reconciliation and Love’.
