Previous winners have often overcome major challenges in their lives, such as bereavement, trauma and illness, and have raised thousands for charity, cared for friends and relatives, and helped others.

This year, the awards will recognise young people who have responded positively to the impact of Covid-19, helping their friends, families or their communities.

Nominations are welcome from anyone, including friends, family, schools, youth groups, or voluntary organisations.

Anyone who lives in Nottinghamshire is eligible, if they are aged between 11 and 19, or up to 25 for disabled people.

One winner will be selected from each of Nottinghamshire’s seven districts – Ashfield, Bassetlaw, Broxtowe, Gedling, Mansfield, Newark & Sherwood, and Rushcliffe.

This year, both groups and individuals can be nominated, and those nominating are being encouraged to send in short video clips talking about the person or people they think should receive an award.

Coun Kay Cutts, county council leader, said: “This has been a difficult year for many of us, as we deal with the impact of the coronavirus. I know that people across the county have risen to the challenge, supporting each other, their loved ones, and their communities.

“This year marks the 10th anniversary of our 4Uth Awards, which are our way of highlighting and rewarding the remarkable contributions made by young people in Nottinghamshire.
