Nominate 'unsung heroes' of Worksop as bus company celebrates 40 years

Stagecoach is celebrating 40 years of service.

Stagecoach was founded in 1980 and has since pioneered greener and smarter connections across the country.

Today, public transport continues to play a critical role as the country meets the challenges of Covid-19 and looks to a green recovery.

To mark four successful decades, the country’s biggest bus and coach operator is appealing to heroes in the communities it serves with its bus, coach and tram services to be part of the anniversary celebrations.

Stagecoach is asking its customers in Worksop to nominate their unsung heroes – it may be somebody who has played a significant role in supporting the community during the terrible Covid-19 pandemic, or who is an all-round star and helps make the community what it is.

The winner will receive high street shopping vouchers and will be put forward to the final to become the ‘Stagecoach National Community Hero’.

Matt Cranwell, managing director of Stagecoach East Midlands, said: “It is amazing to reflect on the last four decades of Stagecoach operations and acknowledge the countless communities and billions of passengers we have served during this time.

"Our transport network has become a vital cornerstone of daily life, providing its people with access to a convenient and reliable means of transport for everyday means, whether that’s getting to work, school or university, spending their leisure time or staying in touch with friends and family.

“We are so proud of all the employees, staff, drivers and people who play an important part in ensuring the smooth running of our operations and making sure our communities stay connected and supported.

“It is also important to recognise and pay tribute to our local community heroes for the valuable role they have also played in making Stagecoach the company it is today and we look forward to celebrating them through this initiative.”
