New tune by 'singing plumber' of Dinnington thanks NHS staff for hard work during pandemic

A singing plumber from Dinnington has been using his time during the Covid-19 pandemic to write a new song in support of the NHS.

Paul Ballington’s song ‘Protect our NHS’ says a huge thank you to all NHS workers and highlights the work being carried out every day by nurses, carers, porters, doctors , security staff, paramedics and everyone else in between.

The song also reinforces the messages of lockdown about staying at home and protecting the NHS.

Paul, who has been dubbed the ‘Singing Plumber’, said he was blown away by the response he received from the public wanting to be in involved.

He said: “It has been amazing. I received hundreds of photos from people wanting to be involved and help spread the word about the wonderful work the NHS are doing. It was very emotional to hear people’s stories.”

Paul, 41, has been writing songs on and off for 18 years, starting with little ditties and birthday songs for friends and family.

More recently he has begun writing tailor-made songs for any occasion such as birthdays and weddings and became a YouTube sensation surprising brides and grooms with his funny lyrics on their big day.

‘Protect our NHS’ is available for download with all proceeds going straight to the NHS. So far it has been viewed 40,000 times on Facebook.

Paul added: “I have written many songs for different charities, so it seemed like the perfect opportunity to use my platform to pen one for the NHS.”

The video contains photographs of NHS staff dressed head to toe in PPE protective clothing, going about their everyday duties to care for patients in a variety of healthcare settings.

He added: “It’s my aim to bring a few smiles and laughs to our amazing NHS workers and hopefully try and give something back by raising money for these amazing people.”
