The fast food giant hopes to build the 400 sq mtr diner - complete with children’s play area - on the site of a former factory on the corner of High Hoe Road and Retford Road.

If agreed by planning chiefs the new eatery - which would include 55 parking spaces - would be situated roughly two miles from another McDonald’s at Highgrounds Road.

A planning agent acting on behalf of the chain wrote how the low-demand site had been empty for 13 years - while the new outlet would create over 65 new jobs.

Access to the site would be provided via Retford Road through a new shared road to the north of its boundary.

Planning agent Planware Ltd wrote how various alternative locations had been considered.

However they added: “There are no alternative suitable sites for a drive thru restaurant either within the centre or on the edge (of Worksop).

“The proposed site represents a very accessible location.”

Alongside the restaurant there are plans for a three-metre high children’s play area near patio tables for outside dining.

Planware added in their statement: “McDonald’s have developed a wide variety of buildings during the past 45 years and their style is constantly evolving to reflect changes in architectural style and influence.

“The proposed building has evolved to better integrate with the surroundings and reflect a new contemporary palette of high-quality materials.”
