9. Breakfast club to help tackle loneliness
Residents of Ravenshead, Newstead, Papplewick, Linby and Calverton come under the auspices of Gedling Borough Council, which is running a programme to reduce loneliness and isolation in the area. Part of it is a breakfast club to bring together members or veterans of the Armed Forces. The latest session to meet up and have a chat over a cuppa or breakfast is at the Richard Herrod Centre on Foxhill Road, Carlton this Saturday from 9.30 am to 11.30 am. 10. Celebration of Neil Diamond's life and work

So you might fancy a trip into Nottingham on Saturday when the Royal Concert Hall stages 'Hello Again -- The Neil Diamond Songbook', which is a celebration of the life and work of one of the best-selling singer-songwriters of all time. 11. Try climbing zone at Water Meadows
Mansfield's Water Meadows leisure complex isn't all about swimming and making a big splash. There is also a superb climbing zone, featuring 17 climbing modules, which is a terrific challenge for all the family. 12. College event for budding A-level students
Mansfield and Ashfield Sixth-Form College, on Chesterfield Road South, is the place to be for budding A-level students next Wednesday (5.30 pm to 7.30 pm).
