Eileen Harrison was thrown a garden party in her own home to mark her 100th birthday and becoming a centenarian.

Live-in care workers from Promedica24 were on hand to help Eileen celebrate her big day – dressing her in the morning and then arranging for her to have a haircut and re-style by a mobile hairdresser.

The care team also provided gifts of flowers and a cake.

Eileen received a card from Queen Elizabeth and was able to enjoy her day despite challenges currently faced throughout the care sector and the lockdown associated with the Covid-19 pandemic.

She said: “Thank you for providing me with such a lovely cake, beautiful flower arrangement for my birthday.

"I am truly delighted with all the support I get at home.”

Eileen continued chatting to her family and care team, spending the rest of the afternoon relaxing rekindling memories with her family.

She remembers a vast amount of historic changes in the UK, including how many Prime Ministers have served the Queen.

Eileen’s advice for anyone who wants to live to be 100 is: “Be good, be kind and be true.”

She added: “I enjoy a glass of wine of an evening and kick off my shoes.”

Live-in care continues to have benefits over care homes, as it provides a safe and affordable provision for care with a one-to-one care worker.

This arrangement allows older people like Eileen to remain in their own home and retain their independence.

Paula Beaney, quality assurance director for Promedica24, said: “Happy 100th birthday from everyone at Promedica24.

"Many congratulations for this amazing milestone and becoming a centenarian.”
