The nasty tweet - which Bassetlaw MP Brendan Clarke-Smith took a screen-shot of - has drawn condemnation online and within Bassetlaw by both Conservative and Labour party members.
Posting about the comments on Facebook Mr Clarke-Smith wrote: “I don’t normally comment on offensive online posts, but this one from a Bassetlaw Labour activist, who featured in promotional videos for the party, is truly appalling.
“Politics aside, I have always found most people in politics to be decent people and I would never wish ill health on anybody, regardless of their beliefs or party membership.
“This is not how politics should be.”
Griff Wynne, chair of Bassetlaw Constituency Labour Party joined the MP in slamming the activist’s comments.

He wrote: “The views expressed by these people are abhorrent and are not the views of the Bassetlaw CLP.
“A complaint has been lodged with the Secretary and will be investigated with some urgency.”
Simon Greaves, leader of Bassetlaw District Council described Mr Matthews’ post as ‘sickening’.
He said: “Myself and colleagues are disgusted with the comments - in no way do these reflect views of thoughts of Labour councillors in Bassetlaw.

“I’m very keen for swift action by the national party because people that act in such a way should not be members of the Labour Party.”
It is understood Mr Matthews has been a member of Bassetlaw Constituency Labour Party but has since left the group to join the Newark Constituency Labour Party.
He also played a role in promoting Ashfield councillor Kier Morrison’s bid for the Bassetlaw seat on social media during the general election.
