Dominic O’Sullivan is averaging 297 miles a day - cycling laps from basecamp at Bridgegate Cycles in Retford - during the exhausting expedition which began on July 3.
Former Royal Air Force physical training instructor Dom is hoping to break the current record of 2,078 in support of bereaved Armed Forces children’s charity Scotty’s Little Soldiers.

Dom, 53, has raised £10,000 over the last seven years for Scotty’s - set up by war widow Nikki Scott after her husband Corporal Lee Scott was killed in Afghanistan in 2009 leaving behind two young children.
He said: “I tend to do something for Scotty’s every year and the challenge seems to get more ridiculous every year.
“It’s such an incredible cause and it means a lot to me to be able to help support those children who at such a young age have already gone through so much.”

Hide AdBig-hearted Dom has spent the last two years training for the Race Across Europe - which has been postponed by the pandemic.
Dom, who is being supported by Bridgegate Cycles with refuelling and rest spaces, said: “This is the biggest challenge I have ever attempted.
“I had already spent two years training for the Race Across Europe so instead of letting that training go to waste I decided to set myself a different challenge.
“It will help with my training for next year but it will also raise much-needed funds for Scotty’s - particularly at this difficult time.”
