Pensioner sent dead bird to MP’s wife

A ‘BITTER’ Carlton man responsible for sending a dead bird to the wife of Bassetlaw MP John Mann is due to be sentenced.

Roger Dyas-Elliott, 65, from Ramsden Crescent, admitted to the indecent act today (Monday) at Worksop Magistrates’ Court.

He sent a decomposing blackbird to Worksop East councillor Jo White, which she found on the evening of Wednesday 16th May.

The court heard how Dyas-Elliott found the dead bird in his back garden before packaging it up and sending it to the councillor’s North Wheatley home shortly after she was voted into office in May’s local elections.

Coun White said the whole incident has left her anxious when opening her mail.
