Pensioner gets drink driving ban

BIRTHDAY drinks cost an 81-year-old Worksop woman her driving licence.

Worksop magistrates heard Anne Beryl Ingham, of Water Meadows, had not intended to drink much when she visited a friend on 26th October.

But after two glasses of wine and some spirits she drove home.

Police saw her car turning left from Sparken Hill into Robinson Drive and clip another car at 5.30pm.

She was followed home and arrested. A blood test showed she was nearly two times over the limit, with 185mgs alcohol in 100mls blood.

Ingham, who has held a clean driving licence for 60 years, said she was ‘dreadfully sorry’. She got an 18-month driving ban and must pay a £115 in fines and costs.
