Pause for Thought
So begins the poem commemorating Guy Fawkes’ “gunpowder treason and plot” of November 5, 1605. Four centuries later our skies will be lit up by the glow of fireworks (though I suspect the vast majority will not consciously be “remembering” Mr Fawkes). St Paul, writing to the Christians in first Century Philippi, invited them – and us – to be as visible, in good-living, as stars – or fireworks – in the sky: … shine like stars in the world.
