Paddy is ready to wrestle at home for the first time

A Worksop man is looking forward to performing in his home town for the first time this weekend as part of a new professional wrestling show coming to North Notts Arena.

Paddy Townsley was born and raised in Worksop and lived in the town for 19 years before leaving to go to university.

He then began a career as professional wrestler Gene Munny and is now looking forward to grappling in front of his hometown fans this weekend.

He said: “I have wrestled all across Europe, but have never performed in my hometown before, so this weekend’s show is something I am extremely excited about.”

Paddy is part of HOPE Wrestling, a professional wrestling and entertainment company, which is will be bringing its family-friendly unique brand of pro-wrestling to Worksop for the first time.

HOPE Wrestling has been on the rise since the company being founded in 2013, and has already hosted more than 40 sell-out shows across the midlands, as well as other UK locations.

Paddy continued: “Our aim is to bring the quality and entertainment of the American style WWE shows to our crowds but for a fraction of the price.

The show at North Notts Arena is on Sunday, July 3 and doors open at 3pm.
