Staff at Larwood and Villiage Surgeries celebrate their Outstanding CQC result

Celebrations are underway at Larwood Medical Surgery after the Worksop practice achieved an “outstanding” result in a recent Care Quality Commission inspection.

This makes Larwood, which has four sites across Worksop and the surrounding area, one of the top-achieving surgeries nationally, as only four per cent have managed to attain an ‘“outstanding”rating.

In the CQC report, Larwood was praised for its “consistently positive” feedback from patients, “responsible staff” and the efficiency of an urgent care walk-in system which was launched at the Worksop branch of the surgery in 2010.

The report also found that the practice had “good facilities”, worked closely with other organisations in the Worksop community to improve services and “quickly responded” to any complaints made by patients.

“The practice has a clear vision with quality and safety as its top priority,” the report by chief inpsector of practice Professor Steve Field says.

“Staff understood and fulfilled their responsibilities to raise concerns and and report incidents and near-misses.

“Data shows that the practice is performing highly compared to other surgeries nationally.”

Dr Christopher Stanley, who been a partner at the practice for 26 years, said:
“We are delighted to have been awarded an ‘outstanding’ rating from the Care Quality Comission.

“This is a whole team effort, and it shows the dedication, professionalism and hard work of the staff at our sites in Worksop, Carlton-in-Lindrick, Langold and Harworth.”

Patient feedback in the report found that 88 per cent of patients would recommend the practice to someone who had recently moved to Worksop, and all patients who were spoken to during the inspection said they found GPs at Larwoord “helpful and friendly”.

Dr Steve Kell, GP partner, said: “The report highlights our focus on patients, our staff and working in partnership with others.

“I am really proud of the team at the surgery.

“We will be working with our patient group to ensure we continue to develop and improve the practice and the services we offer.”
