Dirty knickers and syringes are just some problems at Hundred Acre Wood

With regards to the letter in last week’s Worksop Guardian (‘Open gates longer’ February 28) by Grant Cullen.
A gated wood.A gated wood.
A gated wood.

The gate at Hundred Acre Wood is not designed to disrupt Mr Cullen’s enjoyment of the countryside, nor the walking routines of anyone else who enjoys the open air for that matter.

It is instead a ‘needs must’ response to anti-social behaviour very sadly.

So, If Mr Cullen would like to help out by volunteering to pick up the used condoms, pairs of knickers, dirty syringes, beer cans and the endless McDonald’s wrappers each and every morning, perhaps such measures could then be avoided.

Necessity is the mother of invention and the gate is there to stay as is - some access is better than no access and this lovely woodland will be better protected as a result.
