As I reflect upon my first six months as Rother Valley’s MP, I can safely say that no-one could have predicted recent events.

The area, like everywhere else, has been gripped by the terrible coronavirus and we have all made tremendous sacrifices.

However, it is in times of crisis that an MP can make a visible and tangible difference and I have fought for the people of Rother Valley every step of the way.

I have dealt with countless businesses, critical workers, vulnerable persons, and those who have been furloughed or made redundant to ensure that everyone accesses the help available to them.

I was heavily involved in supporting constituents stranded all over the world in returning to Rother Valley safely and I placed great importance on the provision of PPE and widespread testing for our area.

I am also proud to have instituted the Rother Valley Hero Awards in recognition of the incredible community spirit and selflessness demonstrated by my constituents.

Despite coronavirus, I have not let up with the issues that matter to you and I have visited as many local businesses and constituents as I possible and answered every email, phone call, and letter sent to me.

I have also been a constant voice for Rother Valley in Parliament.

I have made high-quality, skilled jobs for the local economy a central plank of my strategy, promoting Rother Valley as a hub for the UK’s green recovery.

My other priority is improving Rother Valley’s woeful transport infrastructure through more buses and a railway link.

In fact, I have convened the Rother Valley Transport Task Force for this very purpose.

All the while, I have been opposing HS2 and fracking projects at every opportunity, improving outdoor spaces in Maltby and Dinnington, rejuvenating Dinnington high street, defending Whiston against flooding, and regenerating the Chesterfield Canal in Kiveton Park.

My opening six months as your MP have been challenging but immensely rewarding.

Please do continue to contact me on [email protected] as we work together to bring real change to Rother Valley.
