Open day fun

GOOD times were had by all as hundreds of residents, young and old, descended upon Gainsborough College for another successful open day.

The day saw the college open to all visitors to show off it’s impressive facilities as well as the vast array of courses and activities on offer.

Community groups such local air cadets and St John’s Ambulance also got involved by staging special events.

“We just wanted to get people over the threshold so they could realise just how much the college has to offer,” said centre manager Leslie Whiting.

“It was great to be able to show off all that we do, but it was much more than that - we invited all sorts of community groups along to work together to put together a working package that’s also a lot of fun.”

The event included a bungee run, bouncy castle, face-painting, cooking courses, massages, hair and beauty sessions, jewellery making and much, much more. Gainsborough MP was also on hand to kick off the proceedings.

Leslie went on: “We had about 800 people through the door so that’s an excellent turn out, not to mention the beautiful weather and wonderful atmosphere.”

“We’re grateful to all of those who came along, helped out and show their support, and I hope that in future people will think of the college while considering their future and learning.”
