It’s business as usual

What about this snow then, and in January? But while the white stuff has been wreaking havoc around the country, and some of you may have had a snow day, it’s been business as usual for us.

On patrol we may look a little larger, what with the extra thermal layer, but we have been patrolling as always. We have also put snow socks onto our vehicles to allow us to drive better on those roads that are affected by the snow and ice.

Be careful out there. Drive to the conditions of the road, which generally means take it slow and steady, and leave plenty of distance between you and the car in front. If in doubt, don’t go out. Otherwise, can you walk or take the bus or train instead?

If you have elderly neighbours, why not make sure they are snug in their homes. Perhaps offer to put their bin out for them or nip to the shops.

Throwing snowballs at property or people not involved in the ‘game’ can have serious repercussions if it leads to damage or injury. It could land you in handcuffs.

The snow brings out the child in all of us, but have a bit of sense and consideration before you take aim.

We have been particularly concerned with a group of youngsters who took it upon themselves to target residents in Carlton and Langold. Snowballs were thrown at the houses. When the homeowners confronted the children they were met with a barrage of abuse.

You are never too young to learn good manners and respect for your neighbours. If we catch anyone behaving in this way we will be forced to take action.

Finally, we have bid farewell to PCSO Scott Padley, who has transferred to his home force, South Yorkshire Police, where he will start as a Police Constable. In his place we welcome PCSO Jaime Shaw, who has moved over from the Worksop South West beat team.
