Isabelle - water baby!

The plucky tot enjoyed watching her mum and dad on the water at Lound Water Ski Club so much that she asked if she could join them.

So they got her a proper training ski and off she went, taking to it like the proverbial duck to water.

It’s probably in her genes though.

Dad Marc is a former British and Europe water ski champion and wasn’t worried about his young daughter following in his wake.

“I was very surprised that she wanted to do it but I wasn’t nervous in the slightest because she is confident in water, my wife was more worried about it,” he said.

Marc, who coaches water skiing and has skied all over the world, said Isabelle is one of the youngest skiers in the country - if not the very youngest.

She had her third birthday at the end of August and has been skiing every weekend with her parents during the summer.

Marc, 40, is a teacher at St Barnabas primary school in Barnetby.

He started skiing around the age of eight and has been a member at Lound for about five years.

He said: “It’s something I’ve done all my life and it’s a great sport and a great way to keep fit and healthy.”

“Isabelle has been on proper skis since she was two. She took to it straightaway and is doing really well and enjoying it.”

“She can’t swim yet but she loves being in the water and always wears a life jacket.”

“She hasn’t struggled with it at all, she seems to be a bit of a natural.”

Mum Judith teaches at a school in Scunthorpe. She has water skied for about five years but is taking a break at the moment because she is expecting the couple’s second baby at Christmas.

The family, of Barns Green, Scotter, take their caravan to Lound lake, near Retford, and spend their weekends there during the good weather.

“Isabelle doesn’t have any fear of water because she’s been around it since she was born so it’s quite a natural thing for her.”

“She has fallen in but it doesn’t bother her, she was more upset that her skis had come off.”

“I am always on the boat so I can jump in and get her, she’s not scared.”

“She always gets a bit of an audience watching her and there is always applause when she comes back in.”

Marc said he would like Isabelle to compete when she gets older, but he won’t force her into it.

He owns a speed boat and tows Isabelle on her skis.

“She goes about 11 miles an hour, which for a 400hp boat is only just ticking over,” he said.

“Water skiing is a family thing for us, we’ve all skied together and play in the water on inflatables.”

Lound Water Ski Club secretary Tina Yeo said Isabelle was their youngest skier at the moment.

She said: “She seems to enjoy it and we hope she continues with the sport and becomes like her dad.”

“The club has produced several international water skiers who also started at a young age.”
