The Government has told Bassetlaw that it needs to build at least 10,013 new homes by 2037.
However, if the Government goes ahead with its Housing White Paper before this local plan can be completed, it will force even more housing on us, with less infrastructure, fewer facilities and with less of a say from local people of where this development takes place.

Hide AdThe Bassetlaw plan sets out the council’s priorities for housing, regeneration and other development in the district up to the year 2037.
But it also sets out other important issues like how we enable job creation, how we tackle climate change, and how we can make Bassetlaw a more prosperous, environmentally friendly and appealing place to live and work for future generations.
Following the last consultation period in January of this year, we have listened to everyone who responded, have taken on board the comments that were made and these have helped to shape the latest version of the Bassetlaw plan.
Just some of the major ambitions we have for our district are to enable the creation of 11,200 new jobs.

As part of the proposals, we want to see road improvements, more school provision, improvements in healthcare and a mix of housing that caters for older people and provides affordable housing.
We also want to see developments that have more open space and encourage residents to lead healthy, active lifestyles through the creation of walking and cycle routes.
The purpose of creating a local plan is so that we can achieve Government housing requirements in a way that meets local needs and reflects local priorities for Bassetlaw residents now and in the future.
