Bassetlaw District Council, working in partnership with the North Notts BID, business forums, local businesses and other agencies, has also been putting plans in place, in line with government guidelines, to ensure that all Bassetlaw town centres are a safe place to visit.

From this week, signage will be visible to advise shoppers where to queue outside individual shops and on markets.

There will also be signs in other areas such as our car parks and green spaces reminding people to follow social distancing guidelines, stay two metres apart from anyone outside of their household, and not to congregate in groups.

Town centres will see an enhanced cleaning regime and residents may notice council staff spraying high footfall areas.

They will be cleaning high contact points such as bins, benches and the buttons on pedestrian crossings.

The council will also be installing temporary hand sanitising dispensers at the top and bottom of Bridge Street over the next couple of weeks.

The public toilets on Bridge Street, which were closed for refurbishment before lockdown, will re-open on June 24.

These toilets will eventually have pay gates, but due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the council has delayed installing these until later in the year.

This removes an extra touch point and the need for people to use change.

Throughout this crisis, NHS and social care staff have been on the front line and we are all very grateful for all they have done.

Across Bassetlaw, the council has suspended parking charges in all its car parks for NHS and social care staff as well as anyone providing direct support helping unwell and vulnerable people in their communities, including emergency service workers, community volunteers and frontline transport workers.

Visitors using council car parks can also pay by using RingGo if they do not wish to use coins or touch parking machines.

It is easy to register with RingGo before visiting the town centres and more information is available here.
