Olympics 2012: Worksop readers share their experiences

PUPILS from St Augustine’s Primary School enjoyed the golden ticket opportunity of a lifetime at the London 2012 Olympics.

Headteacher Jackie Ryan applied for 20 tickets to the Games and was delighted to find out the school had been successful.

A group of 16 pupils and staff headed to London last Thursday to watch a variety of athletic heats – from discus and pole vaulting to the 100 metre relay.

They were also lucky enough to watch gold medallist Victoria Pendleton being interviewed after her Olympic victory.

The school asked pupils to nominate the most deserving of their fellow classmates – and 16 from them were chosen to go to London this month.

Mrs Ryan said the pupils behaved impeccably and were a credit to the school.

“It was really amazing – it’s rare our pupils have the chance to go to London so to go and see Olympics was truly special,” she said.

“This was a once in a lifetime opportunity they will never forget and will be something they can tell their children about in the future.”
