Olympic visit as kids go for gold

THE GLORY of the games came to Langold as schoolkids were treated to a special Olympic visit to celebrate their own sports victory.

A special assembly at Langold Dyscarr Community School welcomed special guest Olympic water polo player Joe O’Regan - who will soon be going to the London 2012 games to compete.

A school spokesman said: “We were extremely privileged to learn that Joe was able to come to our school in order to present the prizes following our Olympic Sports Day that was held to coincide with the arrival of the Bassetlaw Olympic Torch.”

Joe presented a gold medal to the boy and girl from each class who most displayed one of the Olympic values of respect, excellence and friendship. He then presented the sports day trophy to the winning team.

Headteacher Mrs Angela Huthart, added: “The children were very inspired by Joe’s visit and learned a great deal about the commitment needed to become a successful athlete.”

“It was a wonderful experience for all those involved.”
