Olympic fun at Worksop College

In celebration of the London 2012 Olympics Worksop College and Ranby House School came together for their own version of the competition.

Aided by staff from both schools, more than 200 pupils from Year 6 to 10 were split into mixed age-group teams to promote teamwork and ensuring fair competition.

The aim of the event was to have fun, with many of the events involving water, dressing up or sometimes both.

Pupils moved water from one container to another using just a straw and put on wellington boots, filled them with water and ran wearing them attempting to conserve as much as possible.

At the end of the afternoon, the scores from the 10 races were totalled and each member of the winning team received a shield presented by Roy Collard, the headmaster.

A school spokesman said: “This special event, to mark the 2012 Olympics, was one of the first for Worksop College and Ranby House School.”

“It was an excellent and enjoyable start for both staff and pupils who will undoubtedly come together more regularly in the future.”
