Old market building to be turned into shops and flats?

An old market building could be bulldozed to make way for new shops and flats.

The plans have been submitted to Newark and Sherwood District Council’s planning department to replace the aging Ollerton Market property on Sherwood Drive, in Ollerton.

In its place could be a new building that would boast three new retail outlets with three two-bedroom flats built over the top of them.

The plans have already been discussed by Ollerton Town Council, which has opted to support the proposals, although members did raise concerns over the size of the flats.

They said they were insufficient while they also raise queries over what they saw as a lack of parking for both the shops and residents.
