With the shortest day approaching, on 22nd December, pedestrians, cyclists and motorists are being urged to make sure they can be clearly seen.

At the same time, motorists are being advised to check and prepare their vehicles for any journeys they may be making over the festive period – especially if the weather takes a turn for the worst.

Coun Kevin Greaves, chairman of Notts County Council’s transport and highways committee, said: “Statistics show that there is a peak in casualty rates amongst drivers over the three-month period, November, December and January.”

“We can all help to improve matters by making sure our vehicles are in peak condition.”
