A young man from Edwinstowe who drove his friend to work the morning after a night out was twice over the legal limit, a court has heard.
Lewis Thomas Cannon, 18, of Occupation Lane, was stopped by police for travelling too fast on Mansfield Road in Clipstone at 4.40am on December 13.
A roadside test revealed he had was approximately twice the legal limit with 74 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 mililitres of breath.
Tim Haines, defending, said: “He felt that he would be able to drive and thought the alcohol would be out of his system.”
Cannon admitted the offence and was fined £150, with a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85.
He was disqualified by Mansfield magistrates for 17 months.
