Notts: Son is running the London Marathon in memory of his dad who lost his battle with lung cancer

Daniel Kerley, 32, decided after watching his dad suffer he wants to raise as much money and awareness for the charity which supported his dad and family.

Daniel has also helped raised funds for charity.

Daniel said: “Macmillan were fantastic throughout and I have raised nearly £4,000 so far for them, but I decided to do this event for Hospice UK as my Dad passed away in the Bassetlaw Hospice in Retford.”

“I cannot thank the staff enough for the care he received over the four days he was at the hospice.”

“They were on call 24/7 and couldn’t do enough for him or us.”

To raise further funds for the charity Daniel will be aiming to complete the London Marathon on Sunday 26th April.

He said: “I wasn’t sure if I would ever get a place in the London Marathon, and to be honest I wasn’t sure if I could complete it.”

“But now I have my place I am going to give 100 per cent to this and make my Dad proud whilst raising as much money as I can for Hospice UK.”

“My Dad worked for IBM, and London always reminds me of him as he worked down there at the South Bank office and I used to meet him for lunch when I worked in London.”

“So its one race I have always wanted to do.”
