Launched by Notts Wildlife Trust, ‘My Wild Life’ will aim to restore wildlife and wild places in towns and cities in Notts, and encourage people from all walks of life to share their own personal stories about what nature means to them.

It is hoped that not onlywildlife will benefit from the campaign, but also residents- as it was revealed thatpeople who live near and experience green spaces have a 50 per cent chance of being healthier, both physically and mentally.

English broadcaster and naturalist Sir David said: “People turn to nature in moments of joy and in moments of sadness.”

“We are part of the natural world-m we depend on it for the air we breathe and the food we eat.”

“The Trust is helping people to understand their role in the natural world and their dependency on it. This is essential if we are going to speed nature’s recovery.”

Ian O’brien volunteers for Notts Wildlife Trust and his is one of the many stories to feature in ‘My Wild Life’.

Ian said: “Nature has always been a big part of my life, since a young age.”

“My first love was birds of prey, fungi and climbing trees. These loves lead to my first job working in forestry.”

“I still love watching local nature thrive on reserves, in parks and even in the city.”

“I volunteer on my day off to make a difference to the natural world on my doorstep so it may inspire others and impact their lives for the better.”
