The Integrated Risk Management Plan (IRMP) details how the fire service proposes to keep people who live in, work in, or travel through Notts safe from fire and other incidents in the face of decreasing budgets.

This includes providing an appropriate number of fire engines in the right places, giving out fire safety advice and inspecting businesses to make sure they are adhering to fire regulations.

The document asks people for their opinions on issues such as whether it should collaborate more with neighbouring services and how the fire service could reduce its impact on the environment.

People can take part in the consultation by going to www.notts-fire.gov.uk. Responses should be made by 2nd February.

Fire Authority chairman, Coun Darrell Pulk said: “This plan not only meets our legal obligation to produce an IRMP but also gives us the opportunity to focus our services on people’s needs. It will help us direct our fire and rescue activities for the next five years, during which time we expect to see our budget reducing further.”
