Notts: Police get on their bikes for charity ride

The Tour de Force bike ride will hit the streets once again this year with proceeds going to the Bluebell Wood Hospice, which supports children with a shortened life expectancy, and Nottingham University Hospitals Cancer Research.

And the 165-mile route will see cyclists pass as many police stations in the force area as possible.

The event will run in two groups with the first aiming to complete the route in 24 hours while the second, featuring more advanced riders, will be hot on their heels, riding a shortened distance of 110 miles, as they try to catch-up and finish in nine hours.

The Tour de Force will leave from the Force headquarters at Sherwood Lodge, in Arnold, on Friday 20th June and will finish at 5pm the following day at Victoria Embankment, to coincide with the Great Nottingham Bike Ride.

Event organiser, PC David Dennis, said: “The distance is quite challenging but everyone has been training hard in order to make the event as successful as last year’s Twincoasts fundraiser which raised almost £6,000.

“It’s going to be tough but we’re all looking forward to it and both charities are overjoyed we are supporting them.”
