Science workshops about the supersonic car Bloodhound are among dozens of popular courses which are managed by the council’s Community Learning and Skills Service (CLaSS) each year at community venues and schools county-wide.

The global media’s eyes will be on Bloodhound on September 24 when the supersonic car is unveiled to the world for the first time at Canary Wharf in London - ahead of its 1,000mph World Land Speed Record attempt in the future.

Coun John Knight, Nottinghamshire County Council’s Culture Committee chairman said: “We are delighted our family learning provision has been identified as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted. Family BLOODHOUND is a great example of the sorts of courses we offer in this area. It covers science, technology, engineering and maths, helping to engage children and young families and has been a great success in local communities.”

The Ofsted report will be discussed by the county council’s Culture Committee at its meeting on September 22.
