Notts: North Notts College retains top college position

North Nottinghamshire College has retained its position at the top of the local college league table of success rates for young students.

Figures released recently by the Government show that last year (2012/13) 9 out of 10 students who enrolled at NNC completed their course and achieved their qualification.

The College’s success rate of 89.4% was higher than any other college in the surrounding area.

NNC, which has centres in Worksop, Shireoaks and Retford, has around 1,200 full time students aged 16 to 18 and more than 3,000 adults studying at the College.

NNC Principal John Connolly said: “The performance of further education colleges is measured by the percentage of students enrolling who stay for the full length of their course and successfully achieve their qualification at the end.

“This latest data demonstrates our commitment to advising students on the right course to meet their needs, and supporting them throughout their course to complete and achieve. This helps to ensure they leave with valuable qualifications to help them find their first job, and progress in their future careers.

“Being at the top of the local league table is not what motivates us, but it is a welcome recognition for the huge level of commitment, support and determination from everyone at the college in helping each one of our students to achieve their full potential.”
