Notts: Minimum wage to rise by 20 pence

The Government has announced that the minimum wage is to rise by 20 pence an hour from October.

The change will see the minimum wage go up to £6.70 from its current level of £6.50.

More than one million people across the UK are set to benefit from the three per cent increase.

Minimum wages for 18 to 20-year-olds will also go up by three per cent from October, from £5.13 to £5.30, and by two per cent for 16 and 17-year-olds, taking the rate to £3.87

Apprentices will see the biggest boost, with a 20 per cent rise to £3.30 an hour.
