Notts: Have your say on future of fire service

Shape the future of your fire service as Notts Fire and Rescue Service consults on its draft business plan for the next five years.

Residents and businesses are being asked to feed into the Integrated Risk Management Plan (IRMP) on how the service will continue to keep people safe in the face of budget cuts.

Notts Fire and Rescue expects to lose £2.4 million from its budget over the next two years, on top of reductions since 2010/11 of £4.2 million.

It is thought the workforce will become smaller, using more part-time or flexible working where appropriate and aligning resources to where there is most risk.

Worksop is one of the highest risk areas in the county in terms of the number of fires and incidents and the geographical concentration of the population.

The service proposes to use natural wastage or voluntary redundancies wherever possible to reduce staff numbers.

The consultation is also asking people for their opinions on issues such as whether it should collaborate more with neighbouring services and how it could reduce environmental impact.

People have until Sunday 2nd February to make representations. View the consultation document at www.notts-fire.gov.uk
