Six proposals have been put forward to reduce operational cover at some fire stations in the county, and the service is looking at a combination of some of these to help meet the £2.4m deficit it faces in 2015-17.

So far over 1,000 people have completed the consultation questionnaire.

Chief Fire Officer, John Buckley, said: Public safety is at the heart of all we do and, as part of this latest review, we have taken these figures into account in order to align our resources to where they are needed most.”

“The current financial climate has left us with some difficult decisions, and the challenge for us is to continue providing an effective and efficient fire and rescue service.”

“Fire and rescue provision in Notts affects us all and I urge everyone to take this opportunity to have their say in shaping the future of the fire and rescue service in their area.”
